Foster Park Ravaged by Spring Storms
The recent flooding in Chenango County has taken a serious toll on Foster Park, which lies between State Highway 23 and the Canasawacta Creek in South Plymouth near Norwich.

This is not the creek! The creek is on the other side of the tree line. Before the storms last week caused the Casasawacta Creek to overflood its banks, the bank of the creek where it stands now, and beyond the treeline to the east (to the left in the photo) was all solid ground.
The storms and subsequent flooding have removed a large area of land from that part of the park adjacent to the creek. Part of the soccer field has also been lost, and one of the cement-anchored goals has been uprooted and destroyed. Additionally, large amounts of stone and other debris have been deposited, especially in the undeveloped area south of the park. The water did not reach the gazebo area of the park, but it did come close as one can see the line of leaves left around the hill upon which the gazebo sits.
